Straight teeth without the wires — and without the price tag of premium-brand aligners. CandidPro is a clear-aligner system designed and supervised by your dentist, planned and monitored in-office at Mapleton Family Dentistry, and engineered to deliver predictable results for mild to moderate alignment cases.
If you’ve been told you need clear aligners but you’re not sure whether Invisalign is the right fit for your budget or your case, CandidPro may be the better choice. Here’s how it works, who it’s for, and what to expect.
What is CandidPro?
CandidPro is a clear-aligner platform from Candid — a company that pivoted from direct-to-consumer aligners to a dentist-supervised model in 2022. Today, CandidPro is only available through licensed dentists and orthodontists. Every treatment plan is designed, monitored, and adjusted by a real provider — not a remote app.
Each set of CandidPro aligners is custom-fabricated to match your bite, your tooth movement plan, and the timeline your dentist sets. You wear each set for one to two weeks, then progress to the next, gradually moving your teeth into their final position.
The system uses Candid’s digital workflow and ScanLab planning software, paired with the clinical judgment of your dentist at every checkpoint. That combination — modern aligner tech plus an in-person doctor — is what makes CandidPro a strong middle ground between premium-brand aligners and the (now defunct or risky) mail-order aligner brands.
Who is CandidPro right for?
CandidPro is ideal for adult and teen patients with:
- Mild to moderate crowding — minor overlapping or rotated front teeth
- Mild spacing issues — gaps you’d like to close
- Mild relapse — front teeth that have shifted since previous orthodontic work
- Cosmetic alignment goals — straightening for a better smile, not a bite overhaul
CandidPro is not the right fit if your case involves:
- Severe crowding, rotation, or impacted teeth
- Significant bite correction (overbite, underbite, crossbite)
- Cases requiring extractions or attachments on most teeth
- Complex skeletal jaw issues
For those cases, Dr. Dallin Thueson will recommend Invisalign or a referral to an orthodontist. The first step is always a consultation and digital scan — that’s how we know which option fits your case.
CandidPro vs. Invisalign — what’s the difference?
The short version:
- Invisalign has been on the market since 1997 and handles the widest range of cases, including complex bite work. It’s the right call when you need maximum predictability or significant correction.
- CandidPro is a newer, more affordable platform that does the same thing as Invisalign for mild to moderate cases — at typically 25–40% less cost.
We offer both. Which one is right for you depends on your case, your timeline, and your budget. Learn more about Invisalign at our practice.
How much does CandidPro cost in Mapleton?
CandidPro pricing in our practice generally falls in the range of $2,800–$4,500, depending on case complexity, treatment length, and whether refinements are needed. That’s typically several hundred to a few thousand dollars less than comparable Invisalign treatment for the same case.
We accept most major dental insurance plans, and we offer flexible payment options including 0% interest financing through CareCredit and in-house payment plans. At your consultation, we’ll give you a clear, all-in cost — no surprises.
What to expect at Mapleton Family Dentistry
Your CandidPro treatment with us looks like this:
- Free consultation. Dr. Dallin Thueson examines your teeth, listens to your goals, and tells you whether CandidPro, Invisalign, or another option is right for your case.
- Digital scan. A quick in-office scan captures the precise shape of your teeth — no impressions, no goop.
- Treatment plan review. You see a 3D preview of how your teeth will move and what your final smile will look like.
- Aligners arrive. Within 2–3 weeks of approval, your full set of aligners is ready for pickup.
- Progress checks. You wear each aligner for 1–2 weeks, then progress to the next. We check in every 6–10 weeks to confirm your teeth are tracking the plan.
- Refinements (if needed). If your teeth need fine-tuning at the end, a short refinement set keeps everything on track.
- Retainers. After treatment, you wear retainers nightly to lock in your new smile.
Most patients complete CandidPro treatment in 4 to 14 months, depending on how much movement is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is CandidPro the same as the old Candid mail-order aligners?
No. Candid stopped its direct-to-consumer mail-order business in 2022. Today, CandidPro is only available through licensed dental providers. Your aligners are designed, monitored, and approved by Dr. Dallin Thueson at Mapleton Family Dentistry from start to finish.
How long does CandidPro take?
Most CandidPro treatments take 4 to 14 months. The exact timeline depends on how much your teeth need to move. At your consultation, you’ll see a 3D preview of your treatment plan and get a specific estimated timeline.
Is CandidPro cheaper than Invisalign?
Generally yes. CandidPro is typically 25–40% less expensive than Invisalign for comparable mild-to-moderate cases. At Mapleton Family Dentistry, CandidPro usually falls in the $2,800–$4,500 range. Final pricing depends on your specific case.
Does insurance cover CandidPro?
Many dental insurance plans that cover orthodontic treatment will cover CandidPro. We’ll check your benefits during your consultation and let you know exactly what your insurance contributes and what your out-of-pocket cost will be.
Can I switch from CandidPro to Invisalign if my case is more complex than expected?
Yes. If during your initial consultation we determine your case is too complex for CandidPro, Dr. Dallin Thueson will recommend Invisalign or a specialist referral instead. We always recommend the option that gets you the best clinical outcome, not the one that’s easiest to sell.
How often do I need to come in during treatment?
Every 6–10 weeks for a quick progress check. Each visit takes about 15 minutes. Between visits, you wear your aligners 20–22 hours per day, removing them only to eat, drink (except water), and brush.
