Emergency Care

Dental Emergency? Call Us. We’ll Help.

When a tooth breaks, throbs, or gets knocked out, waiting makes it worse. Call Mapleton Family Dentistry and we’ll do everything we can to see you today.

From severe toothaches to knocked-out teeth, our team handles the most common dental emergencies here in the office. We reserve time in the schedule every day for urgent calls, so if a toothache is keeping you up at night or a tooth just broke, please call. We’ll triage on the phone and get you in as soon as we can.

Same-day appointments are available whenever the schedule allows. Two doctors on staff means better odds of a slot compared to a solo practice.

What Dental Emergency Care Actually Covers

Dental emergencies aren’t all the same. We handle knocked-out teeth, broken or cracked teeth, severe toothache with or without swelling, lost fillings or crowns, dental abscesses, and injuries to gums, lips, or tongue. Each has its own protocol, and the first step is nearly always the same: call us right away.

During your emergency visit, one of our doctors will examine the tooth, take a digital X-ray if needed, explain what happened and what your options are, and (in most cases) begin treatment the same day. If a bigger case needs to be phased, we’ll get you out of pain first and plan the rest.

Why We Handle Emergencies In-House at Mapleton Family Dentistry

Dental emergencies almost always feel bigger than they turn out to be. Someone in pain doesn’t want to hear “come back tomorrow” or “go see a specialist across town.” They want a real person to answer the phone, a doctor who knows their history, and treatment that starts today.

That’s why we reserve time every day for emergency calls. With Dr. Griffiths and Dr. Thueson both on staff, we can almost always fit true emergencies in the same day. Dr. Thueson’s advanced training in periodontics and TMJ helps when swelling or bite pain is part of the picture.

Our team explains what’s happening, what your options are, and what it will cost before we start. When you’re already stressed, the last thing you need is a surprise bill.

Most true emergencies are seen the same day during office hours (Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Friday 7:30 AM-3:30 PM). We reserve time every day for urgent calls. If you leave a voicemail after hours or on a weekend, we return the call first thing the next business morning.

Most PPO plans cover a portion of emergency dental care because it’s considered necessary treatment. We work with most PPO plans and will review your specific coverage with you before treatment starts so there are no surprises.

If you have uncontrolled bleeding, trouble breathing, or a serious facial injury, go to your nearest emergency room or call 911. For dental emergencies that can wait until morning, leave us a voicemail with your name, number, and what’s going on. We check messages first thing and will call back before the office opens.
